chambo622
I've looked everywhere and tried many different install methods to try to get my ATI Radeon X1600 Pro PCIE (device ID: 0x71c2) to work with Leopard (Leo4All, 10.5.2). After every install, after the command line processes are finished, there is a brief blue flash after which my LCD goes into standby. I've waited over 10 minutes and the monitor never comes back on. In order to get back into Leopard, I have to boot with the -s switch and then use rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/ATI* This allows me to boot back into Leopard, which has no QE or CI and only runs at 1024x768. The Login screen does work, but there is no gray loading screen, just command line processes show during boot. Anything I might have overlooked? I look forward to some help. chambo622
Thanks, I'll try that. But is there any way to use DVI with this card in Leopard? I use Linux and Windows as well, so it might be a hassle to have both connections. But as long as it allows me to run at 1680x1050, that will be fine. Also, my card has 2 DVI connectors, it does not have an onboard VGA. Will using a DVI to VGA adapter accomplish the same thing?
chambo622
I tried connecting my monitor with a DVI to VGA adapter instead. Now, after installing the drivers rebooting, it gets stuck at the last command line "AirPort: Link up on en1." This is what I see each time before the Login screen. With DVI, the screen would flash blue after this and then turn off. Now, it never gets to that point. Any other thoughts? I looked into Natit, but I'm not sure how that installation works, so some pointers in that area might help. Thanks.
chambo622
Please someone out there who got their X1600 Pro to work...perhaps you could give me a hand. I'll be forever grateful, I needed this for a project and if you could help that would be fantastic.
ernst.topkapi
My X1650 pro (0x71c6) only works when i boot with both the vga cable AND dvi cable connected to my monitor. After booting i can remove the vga cable. You can tell i was quite desperate trying this, but it paid off. My card uses ATIRadeon1000.kext and ATI_Wormy.kext, system profiler reports it as an ATI X1600. Here is some useful info, and links to the correct kexts:http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2312
