Tek_No
Is it just me or is there now (Mac Os X 10.4.5) a big difference between running Mac Os X on laptop battery power when compared to running it on AC power??? While I was running 10.4.3 the difference wasn't really noticeable but now when I'm running on battery power applications launch slower, booting the OS is way slower, even the icons in the dock are "popping" much slower than when on AC power... Anybody else noticed this difference? If so, what could be the reason for this??? Take care, Tek_No
Tek_No
Strange... Nobody running 10.4.5 on a laptop??? To run on batteries you only need to unplug the AC power cord, you know
greenfday6
i just installed 10.4.4 on my laptop and yes it is slower on Battery power, i am guessing cause the video card is not working at full speed in order to save some battery.

inignot
This happened to me as well, and it turned out to be a bios setting about booting from AC vs. battery. The system would only be slow if I started the machine unplugged. Look in the bios for power configurations- by changing these settings I was able to boot full speed off of battery power. Another thing I noticed is the CPU speed controls used to be present in the energy saver control panel; in 10.4.4+ they are gone. Is it the same for others? Louis
Guys, it's probably a glitch with your CPU stepping technology.....and OS X .... I would try to change your CPU speed/stepping settings in the bios......from Automatic to Disabled...... I'm still in 10.4.3 and I turned off all the Energy Saver settings to Never..... If I change the "Processor Speed" setting from the default, everything slowwwwwsssss down.....It might not be meant to be used with X86 processors, since that particular setting as always been there on G3 iBooks, etc, etc..... VoRTeX15O
This is exactly what is happening to me on 10.4.3 81111g . As soon as I unplug the AC power, wait about 5 seconds and the whole system slows until I replug the power back in. Any ideas?
Tek_No
I can confirm that disabling Intel SpeedStep Technology inside your laptop's BIOS makes OsX flying again when on battery power I'm currently on battery power after having changed this setting in my laptop's BIOS and speed is fine again...
