ssc351
Hi everyone, Here are my specs: Dell Inspiron 640m or 1405 Intel Core Duo Intel 945gma ddr2 667 ram 2gb Running Kalyway 10.5.2 So i think I've exhausted my search after two days of trying and reading through various forums. I tried using Chun-nun IoPCIFamilyfix because someone said that worked on Acer's in this forum and that in turn got the gigabye wireless card to work. I also tried changing all the kext strings to pci168,1c in both the AirportAtheros and AirportAtheros5424 kext files. Another note, in Ubuntu when I lspci it brings up the card as: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01) why the AR242x? I would think it would read AR5424. Anyway.... I have read many people saying this wireless cards has all sorts of problems but the Acer guys seemed to have gotten this going so I am convinced others can get it to work. Which brings up my next question...do i need AirportAtheros or AirportAtheros5424 or both? I went through and manually loaded the AirportAtheros kext but that didn't work and I did the same with the 5424 file and it brought up this error: Also, below is my dmesg file. "sudo kextload -t AirportAtheros5424.kext extension AirportAtheros5424.kext has potential problems: Warnings { "Kext has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components; use only one style" = true } kextload: extension AirportAtheros5424.kext appears to be loadable 16AtherosInterface is not compatible with its superclass, 16IO80211Interface superclass changed? kextload: a link/load error occured for kernel extension AirportAtheros5424.kext link/load failed for extension AirportAtheros5424.kext (run kextload with -t for diagnostic output)" Dmesg: npvhash=4095 hi mem tramps at 0xffe00000 PAE enabled Darwin Kernel Version 9.2.2: Tue Mar 4 21:17:34 PST 2008; root:xnu-1228.4.31~1/RELEASE_I386 standard timeslicing quantum is 10000 us vm_page_bootstrap: 511819 free pages and 12469 wired pages mig_table_max_displ = 79 Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform" has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components; use only one style. codingrobot
Try rebranding your card using the guide I posted here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=122365 I used to have absolutely the same problem with my Gigabyte WI07HT, rebranding solved it. ssc351
Will rebranding the card screw it up for my Ubuntu wireless? I dual boot ubuntu and kalyway right now...Does the rebranding occur within the OS or does it modify the card itself?
