pantherrilla
i know alot of people are having issues with this card, as well have i, but after 2 full days, my fix may help alot of you. This fix is for the ones with the the wired built in ethernet (broadcom 57xx ). and your computer see the card but because your mac is all 0000000000, you can't get on the internet. I have Dell Optiplex GX520 desktop 4ghz/ 2gig ram/ 80gig sata hd Intel P4 Dual core 1. you will need a router & know a little bit of how to set up reserved ip addresses 2. log into your router (im using netgear) 3. go to (attached devices), probably a good idea to unplug any other devices connected to your router so that you only see your mac pc. also the router will give you the true mac address of your etho card, write it down. i was not able to change my mac address in the scripts provided by others, for whatever reason. but any who. 4. go to (lan setup) this is where you will add and ip address reservation and mac address, click appy, etc, etc 5. now go over to your mac, click on system preferences, then network, then click on your etho card 6. click on Assist me, then click assistant 7. Name your location, ( i used "working static") 8. click continue, click on ( i connect to my local area network lan) 9. click continue, then type in the ip address you reserved (ex: 192.168.2.50) 10. enter subnet: 255.255.255.0 11. enter router address (ex: 192.168.2.1) 12. click continue and check your internet you are now connected with a mac address of all zero's, but your router has your true mac address to allow you access P.S. at first i kept getting errors that ip address is already in use by the mac address you reserved, so you may have to re-do assistant setup again until it finally takes it, but i've been up and rebooted computer several times, now for some reason if you crash and have to do a restore from backup, you will have to re-do steps 5-12. hope this helps Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/241363-broadcom-mac-all-zeros-no-internet-acces-fix/ Share on other sites
pantherrilla
just to add to previous post, i have another Dell optiplex GX520 that i just added mac osx 10.5.6 to and i did not have to do anything to my ether card (static address), this thing is working with a mac address of all zero's and Dhcp set to automatic and i'm getting to the internet, i've released and renew, rebooted my computer, all works just fine. The only difference is that the bios on this one is: A11 and the other is A05, i added 4 gig memory and a 250gig HD, other than that same specs. GO FIGURE THAT ONE! Now for the people who can't get Mac OSX to see your etho card, these are my steps 1. add the (AppleBCM5751Ethernet.kext) to your extensions folder, you will get an error that it didn't install properly 2. then go get EFI Studio 1.0 and 1.2 versions, you probably could do it all in version 1.0, but i'm telling you what worked for me 3. launch EFI studio 1.0, click on EFI installation to install on system, then select device (ethernet) add device and click button (write to com.apple.Boot.plist) 4. Now this is where u can decide, but i used version 1.2, click on admin and fix permissions and then click on reboot now your mac should see the etho card and just follow the previous post, good luck Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/241363-broadcom-mac-all-zeros-no-internet-acces-fix/#findComment-1612253 Share on other sites
Dellmantt
Interesting solution, had not seen this solution before. Thanks i was not able to change my mac address in the scripts provided by others, for whatever reason.. Both setmac and macadd work. You just have to be really careful typing to make sure you do it exactly right. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...st&p=147065 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1566006 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/241363-broadcom-mac-all-zeros-no-internet-acces-fix/#findComment-1612258 Share on other sites
