Beerkex'd
Some good tips can be found here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=212815 You should post specs when asking this type of question. At least the model/make of your motherboard southbridge. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southbridge_%28computing%29 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/216118-usb-not-working-proper/#findComment-1452935 Share on other sites

Beerkex'd
So basically what you're saying is "I have a Hewlett Packard model so and so but I'm too lazy to look up the specs for it, please do it for me". Here are four ways to do it: Run Lavalys Everest in Windows, make a report, examine it, make a signature with specs. Use Windows Device Manager - a bit less n00b friendly though On OS X you can use LSPCI: http://www.osx86.es/?p=620 Or, if you don't have access to the computer you need the specs for, you can use Google, starting with a model name search, then going deeper from there. But that takes time, unless you get lucky. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/216118-usb-not-working-proper/#findComment-1452970 Share on other sites
Dutch-Man
Can you do something with this: Mobile™ Intel® PM45 Express Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/216118-usb-not-working-proper/#findComment-1452982 Share on other sites
Beerkex'd
I could, but I'd still have to use google. You should learn how to do that yourself, it is much faster than posting on forums and waiting for someone else to do it for you. Here, let me show you how: Type "PM45" (without the quotes) in the google search box. See the very first result? The one that says "Mobile Intel® PM45 Chipset - Overview"? Good, you've hit the jackpot so click that. See the two tabs that say 'overview' and 'Technical Documents'? Click the second one. Alright, now putting together what you learned from reading the Wikipedia page (link above in post #2), and the words "I/O Controller Hub" from the Intel website, we can quickly conclude that the Intel PM45 chipset uses the ICH9 Southbridge. Follow the first link I posted and try the suggestions given in the thread. Beerkex'd
There is no USB (EHCI) 2.0 controller present among the info you've posted. I wonder why that is. It might help to use iMac10,1 for model identifier, that model has the same MCP79 chipset as your PC. Edit /Extra/smbios.plist with all the required info. google "iMac10,1 DMI" to find the info you need. You can usually find a Linux bug report or two with all the goods.
