DIAMOND ATI HD2400PRO PCI-E 0x94c3 (Problems)

Hi guys this is my first post, this forum helped me a lot and i aways find a solution to my problems here.

Well, not this time. Im tryin to install OSX in my main PC wich has a PCI-E ATI HD2400PRO (0x94c3) from Diamond, everything is going well until i try any driver for my videocard. Ive tryed like 5 different OSX installs, inumerous Natit's, triakis, and so on. In Leopard i get blue or black screen dependin on drivers, and for Tiger screen freezes at the grey apple. As soon as i remove Natit.kext it boots "fine" (No res change qe/ce).

I have searched this and other forums for a solution but i just cant do it.

Im starting to think theres no way to make this videocard to work in OSX.

Any ideas guys?

Thank you in advance

Xavier

Hey Krazubu, i forgot to mention, yes ive tried both outputs (an DVI and an VGA) and also tried the DVI->VGA adapter on the DVI output.

At this point i think the drivers dont support my specific model (i dont see anyone using this card manufactured by DIAMOND). Ive successfully installed in other PC´s with other videocards, i know the basics of drivers and etc..

Maybe ill just trade my card for a similar but supported one like 7300GS/GT?

thanks

xavier

You probably miss something, I doubt your model has anything specific that would prevent it from working.

Read again the tutos, don't forget anything, it has to work.

Random things to check :

- Device IDs in all the required files (injecter + kexts)

- Are the OSX and kexts versions correct

- Is it the right injecter

(Anyway, I move the thread to hardware graphics forum, Xlabs is supposed to be a place for development)

thanks and sorry krazubu.. it was too late when i noticed that.

ill have another "try session" today, double checking everything. Ive found more ppl having same problems with same dev id i got, in this thread {HOW TO} ATI Radeon HD 2400 / 2600 / 2900 / 3850 / 3870 on Leopard, Full QE/CI/OpenGL & DVI - it is easier than you might think .

Anyway i got a deal and will change my card for a 8400GS in a few days, hoping for better luck with that one.

Thanks and bb

Xavier

Finally i did it. Ill write a little resume here. Remember this is for Leo 10.5.2:

1. This video card has a DVI and a VGA output. Make sure you have your monitor connected to the DVI output BUT using the DVI->VGA adapter. The VGA output DONT work after the video card is recognized.

2. Followed this instructions -> [HOW TO] ATI Radeon HD 2400 / 2600 / 2900 / 3850 / 3870 on Leopard (Credits to mcsmart)

3. Rebooted, altough my card is been recognized as HD2400XT, everything went fine, i could change res, but no QE/CI.

4. Opened Terminal and typed: sudo nano /System/Library/Extensions/AtiRadeonX2000.kext/Contents/Info.plist and replaced one of the Dev ID for 0x94c31002, CTRL+O to save.

5. I rebooted and still no QE/CI so i opened Terminal again and typed:

sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/Caches/com.apple.kext.info

After this i rebooted and yes, got QE/CI and Rotation. But Dual Screen is not working (Dang, a must for me).

ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT:

Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 2400

Type: Display

Bus: PCIe

PCIe Lane Width: x16

VRAM (Total): 256 MB

Vendor: ATI (0x1002)

Device ID: 0x94c3

Revision ID: 0x0000

ROM Revision: 113-B1480A-236

EFI Driver Version: 01.00.236

Displays:

SyncMaster:

Resolution: 1440 x 900 @ 75 Hz

Depth: 32-bit Color

Core Image: Hardware Accelerated

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Quartz Extreme: Supported

Rotation: Supported

Display Connector:

Status: No display connected

So, i got my 8400GS on the way, is there any chance to get Dual Monitors working with it? Its something i really need.

Thanks everyone, i hope i can help ppl having the same issues.

It could sound strange, but I have the same problem. I don't have now any DVI adapter (maybe I'll try one on Mondays), but after three or four reinstallations I can only have Leopard using safe mode. The rest of times I have tried to install drivers for this card I have had blue screens.

Best regards

Hi guys. I have been reading through all these threads about the ati hd 2400 pro problems and i am trying to get QE/CI to work but like you guys experinced i got the screen with garbled out put after boot up too but then... I found the FIX!!!!! I changed the device id in the AtiRadeonX2000.kext/info.plist then in the com.apple.boot.plist i added the lines <key>GraphicsEnabler</key><string>y<string> then installed Triakis_2400_2600_3800.zip, then deleted the extension.mkext. I rebooted and i can change the resolutions and i have full QE/CI support. Im running iAtkos v7 with an Ati HD 2400 Pro device id 094c3.
