happyme Posted April 17, 2008 Share Posted April 17, 2008 From what I can tell, there are no drivers for Radeon 9200 SE PCI Cards on Leopard, so I have no chance in installing Leopard onto my PC. Here are my specifications, please let me know if my computer can handle Tiger, and if so, which version I should go for: (I do have an SSE2 Chipset) Intel Celeron Northwood Computer with 2.70 GHz, MMX, SSE, SSE2 instructions. 100 MHz Bus Speed 400 MHz Rated FSB Motherboard: Micro-Star International Co. LTD Gamila/Giovani/Neon serios 030 Intel i845G Chipset Realteck Audio (is shown in Wiki to work but after patching some things): Could I still get the kernel from the IRC? 1.28 GB RAM Thanks! munky Posted April 17, 2008 Share Posted April 17, 2008 it will work, but you'll lack accelerated graphics, it'll be working in a fallback mode called VESA. this, however, is much better than the vga 16 colour {censored} you get in windows - it will be full colour. EDIT: I think there may be ways and means of getting some acceleration (or at least resolution support) out of that old card. have a look around the forum for more info. give it a shot, what have you got to lose? remember to choose the SSE2 packages, as your machine lacks SSE3. fyi my first hackintosh was a northwood P4 machine, simply because that was my PC at the time the whole OSx86 thing kicked off. it worked ok, and im sure the SSE3 emulation these days is waaay better than what i had to put up with Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/99774-is-my-hardware-good-enough/#findComment-712214 Share on other sites More sharing options...
Reveeen Posted April 17, 2008 Share Posted April 17, 2008 I'm seeing FX5200 video cards really, really, cheap these days, you may want to give it some thought, for fully supported video. Also is this card supported by Leopard, or does it only work with Tiger? If everything would work out I would be glad to install OSX on my ancient computer for only $25 for the video card and about $120 for licenses.
