neral
Hello all, There is an USB 2.0 extension card (PCI) in my computer, and apparently it causes OSX to crash during the boot sequence (kernel panic - the ACPI thing). I tried to remove it, and it worked (10.4.3 JaS patched) ; but then of course, I only got USB 1.0 support (from the controller that is on the motherboard). At first, I thought I could live with that, but in windows, I have a bunch of periphs that won't work properly without a 2.0 controller. Plugging in and out the extension card whenever I reboot to one OS or the other being too much of a hassle, I will have to abandon the idea of using OSX on my machine if I can't get that card to work. It is apparently possible to disable the onboard USB 1.0 controller (which might be a good idea - maybe OSX simply does not like to have two USB controllers in one machine, who knows ?), but I don't want to do that, as my only keyborad is USB and if I disable onboard USB I probably won't be able to enter the BIOS to re-activate it if anything goes wrong So any help would be appreciated My config (+ status under OSX) : P4 2.0 gHz (working) MoBo SiS (brand and model unknown) (working) Sound controller SiS 7012 (not working, but I haven't really tried to make it work yet) Video card Nvidia 5200 (partially working) onboard USB controller (1.0) (working) NEC 2.0 controller on extension card (not working, causing the whole system to crash on boot) onboard LAN (working) Thank you in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9702-usb-extension-card-kernel-panic/ Share on other sites
