Careless
now that i have a working versions of 10.4.4 on an entirely different harddrive... how would i be able to mirror this drive, and then format my 10.4.3 install, and then install this installation onto my 10.4.3 harddrive after its been formatted. what is a SUREFIRE way of doing it, that anyone has tested to this day. i saw there was a image making utility within the disk utility, but is that safe? also, judging by older maxxuss patches, the CPU SSE3 patch should not be activated if it isnt needed, but at the same time, why doesnt it show ANY info for my cpu, and why doesnt it load without the SSE3 patch, as if i require it. ive tried, and i get a kernel panic. then i made a copy of my patched kernel and applied the SSE3 patch to it, and it worked, so i KNOW that its an issue with the way SSE3 is handled. although 10.4.3 didnt have this issue. maxxuss? jdxxx
Easiest and surefire? From Windows XP, use Acronis or Norton Ghost. Use Backup mode. Make a image of your 10.4.4 partition. Then use restore, and restore the partition anywhere you want it. I have done this several times. Works. jdxxx
Use Acronis True Image -- I do not like Ghost either, and Acronis works much better. Acronis Disk Director works fine for partitioning and setting up dual boot. Highly recommended. Once you have the partition image, you can restore it anywhere you want -- a new partition, an old partition that you are overwriting, a new/old disk. Only requirement is that the partition receiving the install be larger than the partition from which the image is taken (it has to fit). miliuco
I've cloned the disk with 10.4.4. to the disk with the old 10.4.3 booting with a boot CD of Ghost and all worked fine. But the clone must be the whole disk since cloning only the 10.4.4 partition the system didn't boot well. Here yo can download a CD image of a boot CD containing Ghost 2003 and Partition Magic 8. Greetings. www.miliuco.net Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/9549-post-install-1044-question/#findComment-59609 Share on other sites
bluedragon1971
Why are you bothering with Windows tools when there is a great (and free) OS X tool that is specifically designed to do this? Careless
thanks for all the wonderful help guys!!! looks like the boards are back and better than ever! for the sake of testing purposes, i've decided to use the disk utilitiy within macosx to clone my drive onto my 10.4.3 harddisk, and if that doesnt work...well, this installation is still golden. bluedragon1971
Oh, and about your kernel problem, Maxxuss' pre-patched kernel for AMD is supposed to include the SSE3 patch. Other than that, i don't know, as my system only needed the anti-TPM/anti-EFI patch. DONT TRY THIS. not only did it frag my 10.4.3 disk, it also fragged my 10.4.4 disk aswell. I'm going to attempt to restore permissions on the 10.4.4 and see if that fixes stuff. i sorta don't wanna go through installing everything over again, but ahwell, if i have to, i must.
