Hi,

I have a Compaq v3000 laptop, I have been using osx86 on it for 2 months or so. I have re-installed leopard at least 20 before all without any problems. Now I have a weird problem after re-installing leopard I dun see Darwin Bootloader just a blinking cursor. What i did before was to install linux(ubuntu) on another partition to get the linux dump for the audio codec, but audio din work in linux as well. So I formatted the linux partition. After that I used that partition to create a time machine backup, after backup was complete I din not restore any file. I just played with time machine awhile. After that when I rebooted leopard would not boot. No darwin bootloader. So I re-installed leopard and still the same thing. So I formatted the time machine partition as well and still no darwin bootloader. Any 1 could advise me on what to do pls? I am now stuck with wimdows agains. Which really sucks. I need to get my osx again. THanks

Hi Komeet, Thanks for the reply. I have tried that din work. Besides I have resolved it. I needed to use chain loader method. Funny thing is I have used darwin to load wimdows and osx directly. Now i need to know how to make os x the default os after darwin times out. Now it just shows me the diff OSs and waits for my input. Anyone?

Boot your installation disk in single user mode ( -s ).

When things finish loading type the following.

( "0" in rdisk0 is your hard drive number) ( "1" in flag 1 is your partition number) Change these according to your configuration.

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0

flag 1

update

write

:EDIT: Nevermind you resolved it.

Hi nkear5, thank you for your reply. I followed your instructions and made leopard the active partition. But now I just get a Blinking Cursor. So I had to make wimdows the active partition again. The Chain loading method is very fustrating. I have went into wimdows and made osx the default os. So now in XP bootloader after it times out it goes to darwin bootloader then after it times out if goes back to XP bootloader and it loops forever until I choose the OS myself. Is there a way I can make darwin choose osx after it times out? I dunno why now I have to use chain loading method I have been using darwin solely for sometime till I used time machine and everything was messed up. THanks.

I'm not sure, the chain 0 method is very inefficient. I only use the Darwin bootloader, it's much more efficient.
