faust_mateo
MacBookPro Clean Install of Vista or XP Hello all! I am trying to get Windows XP to natively (No Boot Camp, XOM, Or parallel's) work on my MacBookPro and am wondering has anyone else done this? Laptop: MacBookPro 17" CPU - T2600 @ 2.163GHz Memory – 2 GB HD – 100 GB DVD-R/CDRW ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 I have: OS X Tiger Windows Xp Upgrade Windows Vista 32 Home Premium I have installed Window's XP on my MacBookPro and am wondering if anyone else has done a Clean Window's XP with No Boot Camp ,XOM, Or parallel's yet? (I actually installed Window's XP (upgrade) by inserting the disk into the MacBookPro and though I was unable to eject the disk when XP asked to validate an older full version of window's I plugged in an external (USB) DVD/CDRW with my Win 98 disk in it and voila it installed.) After Windows XP Install I installed: 1 -"Inputremapper_1_0_04_release" - this fixed all the key mapping, fan control, screen lighting, and sound control. 2 - "Install Macintosh drivers for windows .exe" - but it really didn't do much that wasn't already done. 3- Window's Update. This is what the device driver's look like now. What are some other easy to use driver's I can install: help Is there a download site for them that anyone knows about for those drivers's? I don't know if they are protected or anything. A couple of device's are unknown which make's it fun for the whole family. I have been searching for a thread covering the complete thing but haven't had any success yet. I found this old post and it show's exactly what I am seeing on my end but doesn't show a solution. I sent an email to the blogger and am waiting for a response. 2 Weeks and counting. http://blogs.msdn.com/hans_vb/default.aspx Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95179-xp-on-macbookpro-no-bootcampxomparrallels/ Share on other sites
Falcon351
Firstly, this should be in the Boot Camp forum. Now, to explain some things. Boot Camp is meant to help you resize the OS X partition, create a new one for Windows and boot from the Windows CD/DVD. When you do this, Windows boots natively (running directly on the hardware), just like it would on a PC, or how OS X would on your Mac. When Boot Camp Beta was released, the EFI firmware in Macs was updated to include a BIOS compatibility layer, which allows these "legacy" OSs to boot. faust_mateo
I'm not using bootcamp thats why i didn't put it in the bootcamp forum. no bootcamp = no bootcamp forum. There was no "resizing" of the OSX partition , the XP disk was inserted and during the Xp install process I intentionally chose delete the partition's and install XP clean. NO "DUAL" BOOT. It Say's it all in the post above no need to restate it. firesoldier845
Just put the Windows CD in your MBP and hold down the C key when you turn on the MBP. Keep holding down the C key until the computer boots of the Windows CD. Then you install Windows just like you would on a PC laptop. You have to completely nuke your OSX though. But it works if that is what you are trying to do. If you want to run Windows only on your MBP that is how to do it - without bootcamp or parallels or what ever. But OSX is gone completely and its Windows only. Also I am not sure if u can get updated drivers and stuff without OSX <-not sure 100% on this. If you change your mind and want to go back to Leopard or Tiger just repeat. Hold down C with the OSX disk in and it will boot Leopard and then you reinstall Leopard.
