Hey Guys,

After doing alot of reading, I isntalled 10.4.3 Jas Patched via VMWARE onto a partition of mine. Booted native, and I almost fainted. Anyway, I digged around and got my laptops Broadcom wifi card working aswell. Anyway, my problem is my DVD reader doesnt work native. When I put in a CD or DVD nothing happends. Is there anyway to check if OSX even detects the drive? Or check other settings?

Weirdly, when I use Darwin(native) to try install OSX, it lists the installation media as hd(31,0).

If you can help me please do, this is very strange.

Thanks

Some manufacturers don't put the DVD on the IDE bus, to make it less wires to plug and unplug as a module. So you may be lacking either a good USB driver, or the USB implementation of that DVD drive is far from something OS X can support as-is.

Check the hardware manager under Wndows and discover what connection/driver details exist for that DVD. You may also need to find a program like "Unknown Device" and see if that can give more technical info about it.

Offhand, it seems as if the DVD isn't configured how OS X is going to accept. It has to be IDE slave on the primary channel, I think. USB drives for DVD I have no experience with for OS X.

Sounds about right as I have disabled USB kext, in order to get my trackpad working. Has anyone got a Synaptic pad working without disabling USB?

Thanks
