nitzw
Hi all, I just tried to install the Zephyroth DVD Leopard 10.5.1 (AMD SSE2-SSE3 (32bits)). I can't even start to install the DVD, because my PC always reboot there (before any menu): ... BSD root: disk0s3 major 14, minor 2 ERROR: Fire-wire unable to determine scurity mode; defaulting to full-secure. ERROR: Fire-wire unable to determine scurity mode; defaulting to full-secure. I followed these steps: - used diskpart to create/select a primary partition on an unpartitioned drive. - booted with "-v -x" Nothing changes. My PC is: WinXP Motherboard: ASUS K8VSE-Deluxe CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (supports SSE2, and verified with CPU_Z) Video card: ATI Radeon 1600XT HDD: Sata Please help! Do I have the correct installation DVD? Best regards. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/92580-leopard-installation-reboot-problem/ Share on other sites
nitzw
Ok, I found out that 10.5.1 is not compatible with SSE2. So I patched the kernel with the SSE2 version and it worked. Now, I can enter the Installation screen and start the DiskUtility app. But I can't find my HDD in there. I tried a SATA one, and IDE one. Both are not showing. I followed these steps to prepare my HDDs, using diskpart in WinXP: - List disk - Select disk [disk #] - List partition - create partition primary id=af - active Then rebooted and used the patched DVD. As mentionned in my previous post, I have an ASUS K8VSE Deluxe mobo. The chipset is: - Northbridge: VIA K8T800 (VT8383) rev.01 - Southbridge: VIA VT8237 From what I read, I think its supported, but is it in the 10.5.1 version? or only the 10.5.2? Can I patch the 10.5.1 installation DVD to support it so I could avoid d/l the 10.5.2? Please, I've searched before posting, I need help here. Thanks.
