WinBlowsXP Posted March 1, 2008 Share Posted March 1, 2008 Hey, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with a problem that seems to happen regardless of which version I download. I just downloaded the "Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2]" image and tried to install it but I was unsuccessful. I'm able to boot from it, but when it tries to start the installer it will stop at this line: "Debugger called: <panic>... Kernel Version: Darwin kernel version 8.8.1...semtex:/nebukadnezar/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386" I've downloaded 4 different versions from the early 10.4 releases to JaS's 10.4.8 image. I keep reading other threads saying that if that happens, the image might not be patched which could be true but I got unlucky with 4 downloads? If there is a chance that I did get unlucky with 4 downloaded images that weren't patched, could I patch them myself or would I need to find and download a patched version (which I have no way of telling until after downloading and attempting to install)? I have also checked whether or not my hardware is compatible and I believe that they all are supported... If anyone can help me, that would appreciated it. I wish there was a sticky that listed all the errors/problems and their corresponding fixes...(don't know which one to get mad at, the great Mac OS X or the no-good POS windows box...) WinBlowsXP Posted March 2, 2008 Author Share Posted March 2, 2008 Sorry, motherboard model is "Intel® Desktop Board D865PERL" I went back to see if there were any other errors that might be preventing my install: "USBF: 43.363 EHCI controller unable to take control from BIOS USBF: 43.364 AppleUSBHCIx...unable to obtain ownership ...UIMInitialize - error occurred Unable to initialize UIM" Hope this helps diagnose this problem that many seem to be having... You aren't going to want to hear this: I would snag: XxX_OS_x86_10.4.11_Install_Disc_Intel, rev 1.0 From that pirate hang out by the bay. What this will do for you is: 1) It will let you install the most up to date release 2) there is a fairly extensive set of instructions that come with it There is always an ample amount of seeders, and the file is small (1.5g), so in an hour or two you will be ready to go. Burn it as slow as you can, print out the instructions, and have at it. Let us know how you make out. If you could, can you provide an exact walkthrough of what you did to make it work? (That's 5 images that failed to work and it's getting annoying!)
