OSXlovah Posted February 27, 2008 Share Posted February 27, 2008 hi guys, tried to install Apple.Mac.OSX.Leopard.10.5.2.AMD.EFI-Zephyroth on my: AMD64 x2 4000+ MSI K9A Platinum 2x1GB Corsair XMS2 ASUS Radeon X1950 Pro Seagate 320 GB SATA ASUS SATA DVDRW i managed to complete installation (it took, based on estimations, approx. 4hrs). then i was asked to restart the system. when booting up from the activated drive/partition for Leopard, I get the error message that No operating system is available (or something similar). then I got back to the description of how to install Leopard and I tried to apply the patch from this description. here i have the following problem: even if I have a FAT32 formatted USB stick that I insert when rebooting, it get's not detected. when trying to do the "cd /Volumes/123/files" i get the "No such file or directory" error message. I've read feedbacks to get the USB stick out and put it back into the USB connector. still no luck. please help me how to make my installed Leopard work... i think i only need to apply that patch in order to get my Leopard boot-up, but for that i have to make it detect my USB drive. or what can I do else? inject the patch files into the ISO, when burning the Leopard DVD? thanx in advance! OSXlovah Posted February 27, 2008 Author Share Posted February 27, 2008 what I wanted to add is that on this SATA HDD i don't have the XP OS. that is on another IDE HDD connected to the PC but not seen/detected by Leopard. so, i chose to boot into one or another OS by setting 1st or 2nd HDD the one or the order disk in the BIOS. also, the partition where Leopard 10.5.2 is installed atm is active, was a primary FAT32 partition, then erased and formatted into OSX Extended journaled. please help. i feel that i am very close to a proper Leopard installation, still i got stuck on this missing patch (i guess). howarchaic Posted February 27, 2008 Share Posted February 27, 2008 Sounds like you didn't get a proper installation. Boot from dvd, select custom installation, select your language and deselect the others, select via/sb600 chipset drivers, select 9.2.0 kernel. install then add your other devices in, having another computer and a flash drive will make life easier. OSXlovah Posted February 29, 2008 Author Share Posted February 29, 2008 hmm, strange things happen. tried to reinstall, checking in "Customize" only the devices you mentioned. again estimated installation time started at 4hrs and 40 minutes...pretty much, right? is that normal? anyway, left it over the night to install...when i came back in the morning, it was freezing at approx. 30% of progress...it hang there without anything to happen?!?!? is my installation DVD messed up? i mean, if i could use it until there (effective star-off of the installation) why would it stop? will burn another disc, this time even slower than 4X, will try 2/4X and on another blank DVD type. hope this helps... argonlazer Posted February 29, 2008 Share Posted February 29, 2008 4hrs and 40 minutes is far too long. I know because it does the same with me. It should only take 20 minutes which means the Kexts aren't functioning properly when it comes to your HDD meaning you get slow speeds.
