caseyh
i just grabbed an earthwatts off amazon for about $40 shipped. it was used, but fine with me. everyone should be getting an 80 plus anymore. the power bill savings will pay for any extra cost quick. get one! Torell
i would actually stay well away from enermax power supplies, their quality has dropped significantly, i have a DOA enermax liberty that flips the breaker on my fuse box, brand new Advice Wanted - PSU Brands to Avoid! http://www.diy-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29248 OTHER - PSUs to avoid with DFI boards http://csd.dficlub.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3690 OTHER - USER Recommended PSU list... http://csd.dficlub.org/forum/showthread.php?p=9609#post9609 Recommended! - DFI Recommended Power Supplies (UPDATED October 20th, 2006!) http://www.diy-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10854 ok so the last link is fairly old, but it's still valid, just realize that the PSU is the most important piece of equipment of any computer if you don't give stable clean power to all your components you will experience problems that may be hard to troubleshoot, especially if you choose to overclock in the future. i've had some pretty good and pretty bad PSUs over the years, antec, enermax, thermaltake...., but recently i picked up the corsair hx-520w, and it's by far the best PSU i've used, a little bit on the expensive side, but i don't mind knowing i'm getting good power to my motherboard (dfi lanparty dk p35-t2rs) now i'm not technical when it comes to testing PSUs, but from a consumer point of view, it's near silent in operation, modular cables helps, and i can't say enough about the build quality of this PSU. it's built like a tank, and weighs alot more than other PSUs that i own, even when all the cables are disconnected from it, and the other PSUs have all their cables attached! from what i know, "heavier" PSUs have better quality components inside (important), but i guess cheaper companies could always just add weight lol.... either way, buy a name brand power supply, and I would never advise anyone to buy a used PSU, no idea how long or what king of strain the previous user put it through... just my 2 cents Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/89759-power-supply/#findComment-643841 Share on other sites
