I tried installing the Kalyway 10.5.1 to basically build a new Macpro.

I've got the latest Xeon 5400 series cpus and FB ram.

Both showed up incorrectly in the system profiler and the front side bus was 100 not 1333mhz. Overall it seemed very slow.

I just tried updating with software updates and apparently that was a no no because now it won't restart.

So...I'm reinstalling it with Kalyway 10.5.1.

Then....

I'm wondering if I use the Kalyway 10.5.2 combo update will this fix the cpu, ram, fsb issue not showing up correctly...?

My mobo is Tyan S5397(very similar to the S5396)...it has intel chipset, etc. Seems like it should work as a MACPRO...

Also sounds like I need to update the Vinalla kernal...what's that about?

So if anyone has some information on how to get a good hackintosh with server level parts to build a Macpro I think it would be very helpful for others who are looking to build an 8 core workstation for Final Cut Pro or other applications FCS2 etc. that need a computer like this with a lot of juice to crank out some serious work.

Thanks.
