Reveeen
I missed 10.4.10.. I'm on 10.4.11, I used the XxX install disk, and I'm FULLY updated (auto update). I had been *thinking* about this OSx thing for some time. After studying the supported hardware/device lists linked to on the main page, and getting a Acer Veriton 7200 out of a dumpster (as in FREE), I decided to "have at it". http://www.acersupport.com/desktop/html/v7200_specs.html (don't laugh!) I shoved in a FX5200 video card (because it is supported by this), an old 6X DVD burner I had kicking around, and added ram to 1g. The end result is slow (P4@1.5ghz), but quite useable, it has been my main box for 2 weeks now, I watch movies, and download torrents, along with the normal day to day stuff. Kind of a self enforced learning plan. I am not especially "bright", or "talented", the key to the thing is the supported hardware lists and your ability to comply. Many thanks for all the effort that has gone into this thing by others. Slinger2g
Congratulations on your success. We need to start a 10.4.10 WIKI so that when the WIKI is unlocked again we will have a quick way to insert the incompatible/compatible list. Let's go already!!! Reveeen
I *suspect* a LOT of difficulties (reading through the forum). For a self confessed idiot (like myself) it seems that we have a LOT of Windoze users that can't accept specific supported hardware lists, combined with no ability to write their own drivers (again, like myself), and really no "proper" set of instructions (in one place, without reading for hours in the forum, and on the main page), to gain an understanding of what is going on. I am an older fellow, who started with DOS, and Windoze 3.1, newer users seem to have problems identifying their hardware, which is essential for a good installation. LOOK at the postings, folks asking for help, offering no hardware lists, and when asked, having no idea what they own, and wondering why it doesn't work/install. I, myself, would like to try Leopard, but haven't read enough/understand enough to do so, because the method is not plain and clear enough for me to understand (yet), but I'll get there.
