eleven11
so, installed the osx86 10.4.11. install went in just fine, installed all the packages except the native efi stuff (my system is a shuttle p4 with an ati x700). so after the restart, the standard shuttle bios screen pops up, and i press tab to see the details, it runs the ram check, looks at the sata bus, and then just stops. i had no issues before the install and now i seem to get stuck on that load screen. i cant edit the bios at all either, i hit delete or esc and it just says "loading setup" and nothing. im really kinda stuck. the install shouldnt have edited the bios at all, should it? in any case, i dont know how to restore the bios or even if thats what needs doing. the bios downloads from the shuttle site look like they need a working pc and a floppy drive to make - i have neither. any ideas? id really appreciate some help . . . tjfear
I have a similar problem with the same release. Can't get it to load from the harddrive after it does the BIOS check, even when it's the only thing plugged in. Anyone know anything? eleven11
yeah, hd could be the problem. maybe it would let me edit the bios settings if i unplug the hd. it does to the sata check first. . . eleven11
so ive been playing around with it a little more, the part it seems to be hanging on is booting onto the drive itself. if i unplug the SATA cable, it will boot a little further, and, using this method, i am able to unplug the sata cable, boot from the install disk (XxX_10.4.11) and then plug the cable back in before the install. ive tried a few different options in the installer, but i still cant seem to get it to boot. i'd hate to have to go back to windows after all of this. am i missing something really obvious? anyone have any ideas?
