EddieK
Hey guys! I've been the Mac OS X Intel stuff very closely. A few days ago, I decided it was time to put together an OS X computer. The computer I am working on now is using a Ubuntu Live CD, and it has OS X on it. My OS X (10.4.1) is very unstable. I talked to my friend with a PowerPC and she said I should have at least 10.4.3, and that she had issues with 10.4.1 (so I have confirmed this is Mac OS, not my Intel stuff). I downloaded the 10.4.3 patch from the torrent, burned it on a CD and tried to run the installation wizard. There wasn't enough space. At that point, I learned I only had 6GB of space. I followed the UNEASYsilence OS X guide, and removed the TPM files per the guide at http://osx86.theplaceforitall.com. My system is running a 200GB Seagate hard drive, and a Celeron 1.8 GHz processor (SSE2 only). I am a former user of SuSE Linux and Red Hat Linux, so I am familiar with *NIX-type shells. I would like to gain my full 200GB space, so I can upgrade my OS X. I have tried several suggestions, such as having 2 partitions (didn't work for the patch), and using GNU parted. Parted says the maximum my drive can handle is 6GB for that partition: (parted) print Disk geometry for /dev/hda: 0.000-190782.210 megabytes Disk label type: msdos Minor Start End Type Filesystem Flags 1 0.000 6143.484 primary boot I don't know why it says "msdos," but that should be okay. Any help would be grately appreciated. Thank you, Eddie Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8493-my-mac-x86-issues/ Share on other sites
