midnight1111
I purchased a copy of Leopard and did the 9a581-patch.sh script on it. After a few changes to the script I got an image that I burned and installed on the M65. After installing the 9x581PostPatch.sh and rebooting Mac OS came up, but the mouse would only intermittently move. The M65 pauses and the goes again. I tried removing the AppleACPI... directly, but then MAC os would crash when booting. I have a couple of questions: 1. Is there a way to fix the sticky performance of MAC on the M65? 2. Is there a network driver for the Broadcom 57XX chipset for Mac OS 10.5 ? Thx, M. MarqueIV
Any luck getting a reply? I'm trying to do the same thing except I didn't even get as far as getting OS X on the da*n notebook! Bought Leopard, spent the entire weekend patching, etc. but got nowhere. Let me know if you ever got it working. (I'd actually buy a new notebook, but the 17" is too damn big for any of my cases, and the 15" has {censored} resolution. I got the M65 with the better 1920x1200 screen. You? egs
Hi, I have the same issue - slow performance, erratic mouse. Any advise would be appreciated. Was actually able to get the machine to boot into OSX, but man is it slow! I have disabled speedstep, and have to do an F8 -> mach_kernal -r dsk0s2 to get the boot sequence right. Suspect I should reformat using MBR to avoid this, but being new at the OSX86 stuff am still unsure. Thanks for any advice! puy0
Hi everyone, i've managed to fix the problem you describe with dell m65... Just disable dual core in bios... or set up mac os with some cpus=1 parameter, dunno where exactly to put it. For network, i've tried several drivers, i desperatly need 57xx driver since i have no wifi at work. But none worked, the best results i had was 30s of network then os freeze. I didnt find any driver for the built-in wifi, so i've just buyed a wifi mac usb key (~20$) Sound works, look for AppleHDA. But i cant mute sound, speakers still enabled even if i plug headphones. Hope that help, pm me if more details needed.. And please tell me if you find any interesting solution! PS : Dont update to 10.5.2... i've been trying last 2 days to reinstall mac os because of that Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/84764-dell-precision-m65/#findComment-661905 Share on other sites
vobiro
Hi, I'm playing with 10.5.1 and my M65. Performances and touchpad are OK after yhe OS install, but wrong resolution. If I install the NVidia driver, touchpad works intermittently and the M65 is slow. Well, I have to investigate more here. I'll try a 10.5.2. vobiro
Well, installed Kalyway 10.5.1, updated it and installed the graphic driver: same history Installed the last Kalyway, using NVidia for mobile and mouse is working and performances are incredible. It's time to search a solution for the network. If I find no driver this night, I'll buy and USB WiFi adapter tomorrow morning. Kalyway team, THANKS, GREAT JOB. I have to play with thedifferent kernels and so on; I'll post my finding if interesting. midnight1111
Looks like the Kalyway 10.5.2 works on the M65. No more slow cursor. Now I want to install the nVidia graphics driver, the onboard ethernet driver, and perhaps the wireless ethernet driver... I am new to this, so if anyone could point me to the instructions on how to install these drivers, I would appreciate it. Cheers, Midnight Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/84764-dell-precision-m65/#findComment-746505 Share on other sites

Any tips from anybody? I haven't really noticed anything online that can guide me. seecoolguy
ok, from reading the posts here I find that I need to set the system to boot in single cpu mode. Ok... how do I manage the graphics? I have my kalyway disc but I'm not sure how you fix the OSX86 to update drivers for my intel wireless card or my broadcom 57xx nic? any ideas?
