Hey, this is my first post, but I have been following along for awhile.

I have installed 811111A JaS Patched version of the 10.4.3 Intel image on a SiS P4S5MG / GL:

- 1.7ghz Celeron SSE2 (no SSE3) socket 478

(Works fine, launches universal binarys OK, when it has to use Rosetta it gets almost unusable, CPU usage through the roof)

- 512MB DDR

-Generic LG DVD-ROM (Works perfectly)

- HP EIDE DVD+R DVD200i

(Works perfectly, CD/DVD burning enabled in SysProfiler, and in Toast 7 (Rosetta)

-AC97' VIA int. sound chipset did not work, had to use a Griffin iMic, (works perfectly)

-Suprisingly my Canopus AHCI (Mac/PC compatable) PCI -> firewire -> Analog DV bridge is recognized by SysProf but hasent been tested with iLife.

- Radeon 9000 Pro AGP 2/4x

(Shows up as on the PCI bus in SysProf, even when I attempted to install and mod the ApplePCI kext with my devID and venID. VESA 2.0, no CI/QE, but runs quite decently, even though it takes up a lot of CPU, can play lowest res HD from the quicktime site no skipping with the buffer patch from MAXXUSS) No Accelerated (CI/QE) drivers exist for this card as of my knowledge.

-Works with my iPod nicely =)

- Onboard NIC (SiS 900) is not supported at all.

Now... I have run into a few snags

1) For some reason whenever I boot my OS in -x (safe boot mode) I can sucsessfully launch all the iLife '06 products, (although they run slow, iWeb runs good, Garageband cant even record realtime real or soft instruments.), my iMic drivers dont load, and the GUI seems to be way more fast and responsive. However, when I standard boot, it seems slower, my iMic works, and the iLife suite doesnt launch. (little bounching arrow stops, then disapears.)

2)No CI/QE is lame, and coupled with my lack of SS3 when i run iTunes through my iMic it is skippy sometimes, MAXXUSS made a patch to this to set the buffer higher, so that program interupts (usually handled by floating point SS3 function) dont totally halt my system for .05 sec every 10 sec. (even more if your messing with the GUI)

Other than that, all apps work (X11 apps, (slow, rosetta?), Toast (rosetta), Adium Universal, and I use Transmission uni bin for torrents. Camino seems to work rather than safari for flash/java etc.)

One question I had is the technicalities of the -x arg, (safe boot mode) and why some things are enabled/disabled in this mode.

Now for upgrade ideas =)

I was ponering over a 58.00$ Mobo from Newegg.com, the ASRock P4Dual 915GL shipset and a P4 800mhz FSB cpu, that way the onboard graphics chipset will support CI/QE, and my CPU will support SS3 and hopefully I will stop having these system burping problems solved. (also I'm hoping the rest of my devices are also supported from this mobo, because its one of those transtion tech mobos, 533mhz and 800mhz fsb, PCI/PCIE supported.

*** Does anyone have this MoBo and can report what kind of preformance they have had with them? Do SATA / Dual Channel DDR / mobo features work natively? I wanna get closest to the new iMac Intel iMac (Intel 9xx chipset) with SS3 but still stay on budget and have full compatibility. Also, I was wondering on some speed tests of the 800mhz/533mhz SSE CPUs versus G3/G4/G5 benches. If it cant be done on Xbench correctly, tell me about some real life experinces. =)

Thanks! Im sure there are some other people in the same boat as me, give me some feedback / questions!

Thank you! VIVA OSx86!
