JDuncan
I have an HP NC6000 notebook that I have been running a native deadmoo image on for quite some time now. I have handled the selection of OS with the modification to the WinXP boot.ini file. This week, the machine quit booting to the OS selection and began to directly boot OSX. I could find no solution to fix this in OSX, so I boot off of a floppy and used fdisk to make the WinXP partition active. Upon reboot, I get my previous OS choices, but when selecting OSX, it just restarts with the same OS choices. Choosing XP boots as normal. I do not get any chain errors. Chain is still present. If I switch the active partition setting back to OSX, then OSX boots fine. In fact, I am typing this in OSX. I would like to get the machine back to where it was without me having to use a boot disk when I want to run XP. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Am I overlooking something in the OSX settings. If OSX as a way to make the XP partition active, I could live with that, as I don't play too much with XP on this machine anymore. Let me know what you guys think. I have tried searching but my queries only turn up chain error issues. Thanks in advance, James Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8422-strange-dual-booting-issue/ Share on other sites
birdy3003
i have this problem. If you hit F8 during boot up of the mac os then you can select your xp partition to boot. So then you can just leave your osx partition active. JDuncan
That works for me. I use the XP partition pretty infrequently. I just didn't like having to carry around a floppy drive and boot disk to do so.
