Greetings!

Here's a helpful hint for anyone still struggling with an Intel Pro VE/100. I read all over the place on steps & helpful hints to get this ethernet working. I've tested this process on both iAtkos 1.0ir2 and Kalyway 10.5.1.

First of all.. It wasn't as simple as removing everything from System Preferences -> Network, and re-adding them. This had no affect.

I read elsewhere that Vendor_ID and Product_ID need to be added to: /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/AppleIntel8255x.kext/Contents/Info.plist

I messed around with this, and messed around with this some more! I got my product_id and vendor_id from the use of an Ubuntu LiveCD I had. For me it was: 0x10948086

Put this into Info.plist, removed the kext cache. Repaired permissions, and rebooted. Nothing!

I haven't found this documented anywhere else.. It wasn't until I followed these same exact steps in: /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntel8255x.kext/Contents/Info.plist

I have no idea why I have this kext in both locations, maybe someone else can shed light on this?

After editing this Info.plist, removed kext cache, repaired permissions, rebooted. Hooray!

Ethernet works great on DHCP, no issues at all. I didn't even have to add the interface to Network properties, this was already done!

I must say, I'm surprised I haven't seen this anywhere else, everybody mentions IONetworkingFamily as the kext to change. Anyone who can educate me on the need for an AppleIntel kext in both locations, please do! :D

Just note that before the "Info.plist" in all your lines, should be a "Contents". Like this : /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntel8255x.kext/Contents/Info.plist. I went crazy modifying the wrong Info.plist...even replaced the kexts with previous versions, nothing worked...until I saw your post. Now my network is working!!! Thank you so much!!!

Asphixmx,

Thanks for the heads up on the paths, fixed accordingly. Your very welcome for the help, I was really surprised to not have any replies to this thread until now. This detail is really poorly documented in all of the other threads I've read. I'm glad I was able to help you! I hope others read this too, and it helps resolve their issues.

Thanks Steck, it works.

Thanks Vista Master for sharing the kext.

It includes a text file with instructions inside it, added to Info.plist the id of my Pro/100 ve, removed the -v flag from com.apple.Boot.plist

And Leopard 10.5.3 FINALLY can boot normally with network active.

Greetings!

Thankyouthankyouthankyou! This worked for me as well.

Im using iATKOS 2.0i with D946gziS mainboard, so this "Intel 82562G" nic. I also had to add this id 0x10948086. Think the reason why the kext was at both places on my pc was because I followed the kext installation instructions while the kext was already on the pc. So it replaced it (I think this is what happened)

Happy days!! :-)
