ZimmerX
I downloaded iATKOSi and burned it perfectly onto a disk. Partitioning wasn't hard, I just used gParted and created an extra unformatted partition. My specs are the following: E6600 @ 3.0GHz 2GB OCZ Platinum PC6400 RAM BFG 8800GTS 640MB P5N-E SLI 500GB Western Digital SATA II HDD. Using the latest JMicron SATA controllers. Using Vista Home Premium. Ok, so my problem. I boot flag the unformatted partition and then insert the iATKOS disk. I press F8 at the boot options menu to run with "-v". So it runs the diagnostic. It reaches FIREWIRE, no settings found, so it sets to DEFAULT settings ( I am saying this as it comes up as an error ). Then it hangs and repeats the next message: "No root device found" Then I can't install. It just keeps doing that. If I do not run "-v" and let it boot. It hangs at the loading screen with a small NO ENTRY sign ontop of the Apple logo. I am going to try Kalyway, but I would like an explanation as to why it doesn't work. I read somewhere that when it says that it means that it cannot detect my HDD because of the SATA controller. Seems to only happen with the P5N-E. So does this mean I can't have OSX ( I need it for my work, my last resort is to BUY and iMac. Yes people, buy. It's blasphemy ). Thanks for the help.
