Ok, I'm struck between a rock and a hard place...

My system: 3GHz Pentium D (Dual core), 2 Gb RAM, i945G chipset. I have two disks: disk 1 is a 250 Gb SATA with Win XP, disk 2 is a 120 Gb IDE (80 Gb NTFS, 40 Gb Mac OSX). Disk 2 is slave on the channel (master is my DVD burner.

I have successfully installed OSX 10.4.3 (from a DVD with Jas Patches). If I run my system through VMWare (using the real disk, setup as slave with the DVD as master as it is in reality) it works flawlessly.

If I boot from the IDE disk, Mac OS X loads successfully ONLY in safe mode! If I try to start normally I get the "You must shut down your mac" screen.

Starting with -v shows a kernel panic. Any ideas?
