Skwizgar811
I have a powermac g4 that my dad sent to me (in texas) from California. He had switched out the original optical drive in it, with osx preloaded, and forgot to send the original drive with it. I'm wanting to clean install OSX on here but I can't with the aftermarket drive. I didn't know you had to have the original. I was wondering if there was a crack or a way to turn that setting off to get past this problem? Any help would be appreciated, thanks. Skwizgar811
Man, that was hella helpful. I already have several times, but he's a mega procrastinator. Thanks anyway. I was asking for a crack or a way to change the settings so I could get around that. consolation
You should have no problem booting up from any optical drive, as long as you set it to MASTER. I used many and various ones on G4 towers without any problems. AFAIK, they won't boot from slave drives.
