could be a few things I guess, but if you installed using kernel for sse3, try reinstalling from scratch using kernel for sse2. Could be video card related: hardware incompatibility or simply choosing incorrect drivers. Have you tried typing -x at boot to try booting in safe mode? Those are just a couple ideas. I'm no expert, but I've found trial and error to be my best teacher.

sorry, I just see now that you haven't been able to install anything. Which install disc areyou using and what are the specs of your computer?

i think my notebook is too slow:

1,3ghz celeron (has sse2)

512mb ram

64mb intel graphics

 

pc:

pentium 4 ht 3ghz

1,5 gb ram

128mb ati radeon x800gtx or something
