Hey guys

First off, I'm totally incompetent at all of this. I have a good sense for computers and everything and I just need some help to get started because reading about many new things in here makes me dizzy :)

I would like to able to dual boot my computer (laptop) with my current XP and Leopard mac.

My first success criteria is to succesfully install and make it dual boot, the whole driver difficulties comes next.

I have no idea of what I need to do first. I read about my partition needed to be FAT.

Heres what i would think about doing.

Formatting my drive to FAT.

Installing first OS

Installing second OS

Make it dual-boot

Tadaaaa!!

Is it that simple? I guess not :(

Did do a little searching in here for a similar newbie thread without finding one, guess i'm the only on in here

Thanks in advance guys.

I recommend first installing windows. Then install a bootloader. Then install Mac OS X, then make sure your boot loader see's both partitions. You could install a bootloader later, and if you cant get back into windows, changer your start-up disk in system prefs. Good luck!

If you want a idiot-proof way, try this..

1) Install Windows XP (or vista)

2) Install Norton PartitionMagic then create a primary partition on your HD.. if you have two HD and you want to install Mac on another HD, disregard this..

3) Install VMware Workstation then search the forum for VMware to Native thing.

4) Install Mac OS X on VMware

5) put the chain0 on the C: Drive then edit the boot.ini on your XP

6) voila..

just pm if you have questions.. im thinking that native installations are very risky.

Good call, since I personally was unable to isntal Leopard via VMWare. Apparently, actually, a lot of people were having problems.

There are threads for both a perfect install and dual-booting in OSX86 installation > OSX 10.5 Leopard forum. Search. Or browse :( It's just as easy in this case.
