Tibian Ass Monkey
I have a dell dimension 2400 p4 2.8 with built in video, no agp port. Type: Display Bus: Built-In VRAM (Total): 64 MB of shared system memory Vendor: Intel (0x8086) Device ID: 0x2572 Revision ID: 0x0002 Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded Displays: Display: Resolution: 1024 x 768 Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Software Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported i really wanted quartz and all the other goodies..so, I ended up getting an X1300 256 PCI CARD (not pci e) Using this with TOH RC2 of leopard install. The card detects Type: Display Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x1 Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x7146 Revision ID: 0x0000 Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded Displays: Display Connector: But that's all, no other info is displayed, no kexts or display info. It is working and outputting video though. I followed this guide for x1650 to hexedit one of the files where you take you replace certain code with 4671 and 7146. Still nothing. I am thinking maybe the original drivers only support PCI Express and not regular PCI? is there a fix for this? I'm pretty much a total newb, any help would be greatly appreciated. Tibian Ass Monkey
Ended up turning off built in completely, I don't know what I did, but was having "please restart this computer" issues, and ati kext conflicts. I also noticed that at boot it only detects the ATI as 16mb not 256mb ? Update: After reinstall with on board disabled, and boot -v i get tons of display specific matching failed. And it boots to grey screen apple logo, then goes to next screen with mouse cursor and hangs. What could be the issue? Tibian Ass Monkey
No one has any ideas? I really would like to get this card working. I had to resort to installing Vista which actually managed to pull a 3.0 in Performance Index on that system (memory being the culprit) the graphics where hitting a 4.5 for aero and 3.5 for gaming. But interface sucks and it hogs the memory.
