in windows XP, so used to windows + E to get to explorer window, what is the shortcut to open Finder window in OSX? if not one, how can I create one?

the closet I can find is ctrl + D (switch to focus to the first item of dock, which is Finder), then press enter, this is still slower than just click the finder icon :D

Alt + F open finder in search mode

Alt + N opens a new finder window

Finder must be the active program for this to work.

yeah, this won't work if I am using another program when I want to open a finder window to search for something... (just like you can do win + E in winXP anytime)

btw. technobob, how did you config your 10.4.3 to make your t40 to run under 1400x1050? I have the same video card, but the best I can get is 1280x1024, and if I switch the hard drive to a newer t42 which uses ati 9600 128M, the 1400x1050 mode works fine.. ( I loaded the latest 10.4.4 driver)

I don't have any Ati video drivers loaded, I'm using Vesa 2.0 drivers
