geektern
I know I picked a bad computer to put osx86 on but it is what I got. I have been trying for about 2 or so weeks ever since I got a digg on the new leopard install, from there I started doing some reading alot of it. I have friend that have been helping me from loaning me a USB DVD drive to boot from to loaning me a drive that has mac installed on it. And that is were I am right now, I have 2 options as I see it. 1. Get this drive with mac osx86 on it working for my computer. 2. Some how get a iso that really work with my machine (havent got one yet have tried 4 different once. I am thinking the easy way to go is to edit the drive. I can boot into it but I get the ever so friendly "waiting for root device". (gotta love it) I know the I have the 965 chipset (could be wrong but dont think I am, would have to go back to double check) and I need the ICH 8R Patch (hopeing that it is). I cant say what DVD was used to make the drive all I know is it is there. And becasue I cant boot into a dvd and detect the drive I cant disable jounaling so I am force to use a windows machine with macdrive. So what I think I am really asking is a simple ? but I in all mu reading have yet to find, is how would I go about applying the patch to the drive? If anyone can help I would forever love you. If you need any more information just tell me. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/72945-help-with-dell-e520/ Share on other sites
thestevo
To install Leopard, try my patch that is on the bay. To install Tiger try Uphuck v1.4 r3. For both leave the RAID on in the BIOS. You'll be able to get everything but the built in ethernet and the graphics working.
