Mr Munchkin
Hi All! First off let me praise you on a truly top-notch forum/community/resource! I doubt I would have got as far as I have without the help and information that this site provides! I am at a point in my installation now where I believe that I have exhausted my own research and ability and I really need to start asking for help. Motherboard: Abit PB9 Pro Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Graphics: HIS x1950 Pro 512meg Working at 1680 x 1050!!!!! - (link) Drives: Running in ACHI -- 2 x 250gig SATA 2 (Hitachi Drives - Running of the Intel SATA Bridge) Sound: Finaly got sound working after many struggles! Using the ALC auto installer - '882 Dump' I used the (Link to post with file) I used the leo auto installer 1.7 - I will try and find the dump that i used and upload it later!! Network: Realtek R1XXX Was having a problem with the osx default drivers but once the correct drivers were installed, via a tutorial on this forum, no more cutting out when downloading big files!!! (link) Primary OS: Vista Ultimate x64 Secondary OS: Osx 10.5.1 (Vanilla/ToH - just in case) Vista Bootloader - Currently I have Leopard launching from the vista bootloader - with vista being my primary OS and Leopard being my hobby I thought that this would be the best way of starting. That way if I break Leopard then I can always get back easily. I used EasyBCD To set up the vista bootloader once I had installed tiger onto my second hard drive, was pretty straight forward really. EFI V4.0 - Working so now i am using the vanilla kernel osx updated to 10.5.1. Took a little bit of extra work - once everything was installed i had to go into the toh kernel by pressing F8 at boot and then running the 'mach_kernel.toh -v -s' command - to get to the command line and install the bootloader fully. (External Link) - I will be upgrading to 5.1 tonight also to see if it fixes some of the issues that im having. Programs Testing - Most of ACS3 Web Design Premium left to test, need to get hold of a copy of office 2008 beta 2 - im sure we have one at work somewhere. Programs Working - Mac Live Messenger, Firefox, Rar, GarageBand, iPhoto, iMovie, iWeb, iDVD, ACS3 Dreamweaver (after Update), World Of Warcraft: Burning Crusade (Current Patch), VCL, DVD Player, FrontRow Programs Not Working - None Yet ----- I still have a few problems at the moment though and would appreciate some help for a noob like myself - I can't seem to get the 'about this mac' dialouge to work, it just crashes to blue and reloads the UI. Does anyone have any ideas how to update the charactermap for the keyboard on a mac? Or can someone link me a tutorial as this is another headache for me at the moment. Unlike other members I do not seem to be getting random kernnel panics with this system, I know that this is a good thing but any ideas why? I have not added any flags to boot or into any startup file - so i am a tad confused as I was expecting them. And is there any way that I can see if opengl and Quartz are working correctly - Ive got some visual effects working away and they make the whole mac experience what its supposed to be, but im not 100% sure they are working properly because ive never really seen mac osx running on anything other than an ibook I've managed to get confirmation that quartz opengl is working from the system profiler! WooT! Everything looks loads prettier and smoother now after a quick install of the 80 bryona drivers rather than the 88 (it always helps to read), all the media players are working and I can finaly play my games! Once again thanks for all the help guys! PS.. thanks for putting up with my spelling and grammar problems, english is my first language but unfortunately my brain and fingers have not realized this yet I will add a picture of my install when i get in tonight! jackmanfred
Yo, i've got a Abit AB9 Pro working as well screw the hole install DVD just dd the leopard image over and then install EFI V51, then install 10.5.1 update. The only problem i have is the "about this mac" isn't working but i think it's a setting in the BIOS or the vanilla AppleSMBIOS.kext. I'll post back my results J Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/72361-leopard-nearly-100-working-on-a-abit-pb9-pro/#findComment-519305 Share on other sites

Brywalker
I did a clean install with Kalyway prepare, Brazil, and EFI 5 on my old AB9 Pro for my bro I just sold it to. About this Mac worked fine. Only non vanilla kext was AppleSMBIOS.kext and the "Time Machine fix". When I was running hacked kernel, it didn't work - it crashed Finder HARD. SticMAC™
Maybe this will help? To see all the characters(especially the @ sign) which is Alt Gr + G, i use system preferences, international, Input Menu, then activate keyboard viewer. once you have this in the top menu bar, right click on it and mark "show keyboard viewer" you will then see a layout of your KBD! You will find the keys change if you press the OPTION, CTRL, SHIFT or COMMAND KEY! All you characters should be there!? SticMAN Does anyone have any ideas how to update the charactermap for the keyboard on a mac? Or can someone link me a tutorial as this is another headache for me at the moment. ezhangin
Hey I have very similar hardware to yours and I can't even get the Kalyway ISO booting. It just says something about com.apple.boot.plist. What BIOS configuration did you use?
