whoistylerdurden
I installed 10.4.3 with the guide here: http://www.profit42.com/guides.php?id=1. I didn't follow it exactly because I had a blank hard drive to use, however the ISO is exactly what that page would result in (Jas v4.2b patched 10.4.3 1111a ISO) The system: Intel P4 Northwood (Socket 478) 2.4GHz ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe Motherboard Realtek ACL850 Onboard Audio (ID 0x24D58086) Marvell Yukon Onboard Gigabit LAN (does not work in OSX) Netgear FA311 10/100 Ethernet Adapter (works) ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 Pro 128 MB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS (not working in OSX) I have the AppleAC97Audio.kext (version 1.0) installed. It is listed in System Profiler; however its dependencies are incomplete. The following line appears: com.apple.iokit.IOAudioFamily: No valid version of this dependency can be found AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext (version 1.0) is also listed. It is missing two dependencies. com.apple.driver.AppleAC97Audio: No valid version of this dependency can be found com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily: No valid version of this dependency can be found I have searched the forums and wiki for a while without results. I deleted the ATI kexts, followed the wiki's audio guide, and tried other things like plugging the speakers into the mic port. I am not good with low-level Mac OS X stuff and any detailed help would be appreciated. Thanks for your assistance. Careless
go to the nforce for n00bs thread. the latest post has the driver that i use that works with my install of OSx 10.4.3 and it works nicely on my gigabyte K8NXP-SLi with ALC850 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7170-realtek-alc850-audio-problems/#findComment-44767 Share on other sites
whoistylerdurden
My board is not an nForce board (it's an Intel 865pe chipset) and I am running 10.4.3. Those kexts are also for 10.4.1 according to a post in that thread. Everything else (except the nic, but I have worked around that) works on my board (SATA, PATA, USB, FireWire, etc). whoistylerdurden
I forgot to mention that the Realtek audio's ID is listed in the Info.plist for AppleAC97 kext under ICH5 I believe (not in front of it at the moment). whoistylerdurden
A new discovery. I loaded the Audio MIDI Utility just to see what happens and it turns out that apparently the input side is working and detects AC97 audio; however, the ouput side says "Output is not supported." Any ideas?? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7170-realtek-alc850-audio-problems/#findComment-45197 Share on other sites
whoistylerdurden
Well... don't know exactly what I did, but it's working. I had to put it in the Line Out for it to work, but it indeed works.
