Well I have succesfully installed OSx86 using the deadmoo (10.4.1), dd, chain0 method. OS X boots fine and fast (faster than my iBook G3 600 MHz). So far so good, but when I want to configure my network ports the built in ethernet option is greyed out. All I have is a built in serial connection.

I have tried using the AppleBCM5701Ethernet.kext but it does not load on startup and when attempting to sudo kextload it fails to do so and gives a message about checking ownership and permissions.

In WinXP the network adapter appears as Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Network Adapter.

How do I get this to work in OSX86??

TIA,

Odrec

Well after fiddling for a while I noticed that I do get a network card on the system profiler, as Ethernet en0, I just cannot use it.

And I also found out that the AppleBCM5701Ethernet.kext is included in the PlugIns folder of the IONetworkingFamily.kext which does load at startup.

I turned off the serial port in BIOS so it is not usable now. But now everything is greyed out. I have tried to use the assistant both connected to my DSL router and to the WorkServer switch, but it is all grey! (LAN, MODEM, DSL, all grey.)

HELP!?
