I have bought 2 XFX PCI Sata Cards for the Mac.

I have built in an install the driver but Mac OSX can find any drives ??

Is it not posible to use this Card in an Hackintosh PC ??

I have a Asus P5B-E Motherboard.

I have many Harddrives - thats the reason why i need this Cards

I am experiencing the same issue.

The strange part is that it is Hardware RAID, no drivers needed int13 kind of drive.

I can't imagine a reason why it should not work.

Too bad I have such a card , that means that at least for the moment I cannot use my RAID array.

I will try to spend sometime on it maybe with the help of someone more knowledgeble than me.

I found some information on http://techreport.com/articles.x/9008/2 that there is a OSX compatible firmware somewhere.

This is probably what we should find to make it work.

Unfortunately Netcell went bankrupt so...

I'll keep you guys posted if I have news. Please do the same.

I have also just bought an XFX Revo64 card, but the 3 port PC version. Initially read some bad stuff about performance on early firmware, so immediately upgraded to 1.7.6.1 (off the top of my head).

Unfortunately neither the original or upgraded firmware will recognise the disks during install of Leo4All. I have only tried this distro so far, so am currently getting a copy of Kalyway 10.5.2 just incase there is more SATA support.

I also tried ghosting my old IDE OSX partition onto my new SATA drives. I boot from Darwin, see the partition, but it does not fully load and hangs on the famous "still waiting for root device" error.

The usual firmware utilities will not allow you to flash the mac .bin file onto the card, however i just found a dos based srupdate.exe that i have yet to play with. Initial running from a cmd prompt in windows just tells me it finds no syncraid products, though im not currently in int13 mode on the card and i think it may have been created for a PNY-made card.

Has anyone else had any progress with this XFX card, or my PC flavour? I will post any more findings i have.

Cheers!

SUCCESS!! Well, only semi success right now... I still need to try and boot from the thing.

I can get 10.5.2 (I used Leo4All for this particular install) to see the Revo64's drives!

To do this I added the device id 0x0044169c to the SATA section of /system/library/extensions/appleviaata.kext/contents/info.plist (in my IDE booting OSX installation...)

I have a Single IDE drive I have been using for the OS, and a 1TB (2x1TB) RAID1 array for XP only (so far). I am curently ghosting my OSX installation with the device ID entered onto the SATA array to see if it becomes bootable (whereas before all i got was waiting for root device...)

We shall see!
