frank.zappa77
Hey all, I have been thinking about tripple booting my system by adding mac os x to my Vista+XP config. I was thinking about uninstalling XP, installing os x first and then re-installing XP, and then installing Ubuntu after that; so quad-boot...? note: I don't know how this Darwin bootloader works or how it installs, so if someone could explain to me... Anyways, I just wanted to know if anyone has had any problems with the Darwin bootloader overwriting their Vista loader. The first time I installed Linux, GRUB overwrote my Vista loader and I couldn't even boot into it, and all my data was lost (Vista's install dvd couldn't even repair the bcd). I then used the alternate cd to install GRUB to the bootsector of the linux partition and not the windows partition and then chainloaded it to my Vista loader using EasyBCD. I was wondering if this could be done when installing os x. I'm actually downloading Uphuck's 10.4.9 v1.3 disk torrent and I'm not really sure how osx will install or how the bootloader will install. I read a whole bunch of tutorials suggesting something along the lines of using diskpart and marking the partition as active, but I was wondering if I could just install Darwin to the Mac partition and then chainload it using EasyBCD. Any help is appreciated if you've had any experience dual-booting Vista and Mac. And I really don't know anything about the Mac boatloader so if someone could clear that up it would be helpful. I just don't want to have to waste all that time doing a system restore - I don't even have an external hard drive so I have to use hundreds of dvds to restore all my {censored}.
