reibzen
I installed my tiger on an even older computer (laptop), and it worked fine. Just try to find the right version on the wiki page. Danyel
Hi Ensei: I custom-built my mPC about 1 1/2 years ago using specs from OSx86 Project's Hardware Wiki using Myzar OSx86 10.4.6. The system still runs great, and I use Mac OS X as my Primary OS for Home. Your specs look pretty good and are very similar to my Dell Optiplex GX-260 (Test Machine) I have at work. Both the nVidia FX5200 and Intel 82865G should work. If you use the Intel, you may need to set Video Ram to 8MB or higher. If you use nVidia, you may want download driver for MacVidia or other source. I'm running an old nVidia MX-4400 with MacVidia 1.0.9 Driver for full screen resolution (1440 x 900) but no Core Image or Quartz Extreme. --danyel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/69212-installing-osx/#findComment-492130 Share on other sites
Ensei Tankado
First off, thank you reibzen and Danyel. You guys helped me to clear up a few things. Now I tried to install Jas 10.4.8 (Since I can't find Myzar), somehow it doesn't seem to work. I have a SAM Multimedia error saying that the Disk I/O has something wrong. When I downloaded an older version which is Jas 10.4.6, it goes to the white screen with the apple and the spinning wheel, it pops out that I need to restart my computer. Can any of you guys help me through this? It's really complicated. I need like dummies guide for installing this osx from beginning to the end. Thank you. I'll explain my computer's hard disk structure, if it helps. I have one hard disk with two partition (C & D) D is the primary boot/ system drive, while C is considered for system drive too (but i don't put system files in them) Do I need to format the HD before I install? Also are there like apps that could help check if one system is compatible for installing osx86? Thanks. I know there' are a lot of questions. I hope you guys could help me. Ensei Tankado
now i tried with jas 10.4.6 again, and this time i run with -v there's a error: SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE error : ASC=0x11 ASCQ=0x00 Disk1s3: I/O error and then there's a kernel panic. What should I do? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/69212-installing-osx/#findComment-494377 Share on other sites
