So its offical, I am actaully going to build a computer that will be running OSX most of the time. For personal reasons, I am pretty certain that i want to stick with AMD for my mobo and processor. I want a reasonably powerful machine. I have looked around both sites but need people to help me personally. The AMD 6000+ X2 seems to be a "perfectly working" processor with OSX. I am stuck at which mobo to get. I really want SLI for gaming on the windows plus not building an computer with SLI these days is pretty pointless.

Basically let me know what is the BEST motherboard with SLI that can work almost perfectly with OSX86.

Also, If you guys are certain that building an intel based computer will work ALOT better, Let me know. I just really want AMD, but if its a waste of money to BUILD one, then ill consider changing my mind to building an intel.

Thanks guys i will be waiting for your assistance.

You may have already made up your mind, BUT...

While I am running an AMD without problems, if I could build a computer to run OS X, it would undoubtedly be INTEL based. It seems CRAZY to not get an Intel based platform and chipset if you want to run OS X most of the time... seriously. The developers and support in the osx86 community are better for intel, releases are faster, and there are still occasional software support problems with AMD (AMDs had some problems with iLife 08, finally got mine working right after the latest patches).

Unless you MUST get an AMD I stronly strongly encourage getting an Intel chip... it's as close to a real Mac as you can get. I'll say it again: ridiculous to get an AMD if you are building the comp with the purpose of making it a Hackintosh. Just get an Intel chip and mobo with the correct chipset!! You won't regret it.

(Besides, Intels processors are much better than AMDs now anyway)

Not to mention that now you can get Leapord to work on a hackintosh:http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=68013And i think its only with Intels so far, no AMDsbut by the time you build your computer AMd patches should be added. but until then stick with intel since it is ALOT better and you can go Quad Core!

If intel was a better choice was not my only question. I would still like to know the best possible build using AMD. From there, i can make a decision on either making it an intel or an AMD based tower. I will be using tubgirl's newest 10.4.10 sse3 AMD only intall. Let me know if anyone can help.

Its a waste of money to build with AMD if you are building with a higher end chip, a la 6000 x2. Comparatively, Intel has better speed and config options for building a Hackintosh for the money. Your Mobo will be more stable, less issues as long as you stick w/ an Intel chipset. I realize you are looking for AMD mobo option, but you're not getting what we're saying: the options for success are much, much more limited. Understand you did state the above quote, which reads very much like you are open to a change of mind. An AMD Hackintosh just isn't the best build out there, regardless of patches and fix-ups. Go with Intel, AMD just isn't the best decision. Dont know if you're in the States but here you can get an AMD 6000 x2 for $179.00; for that price a better option would be the E6550 @ $169.00. And it performs better for the most part. My 2 cents. Good luck.

EDIT: As you can tell, i have an AMD setup (not the one in my sig, an upgraded x2 deal), so i know pretty much what you're in for. By all means, download one of Kalyway, or XxX 10.4.10 deals, and do it right, if you can.

Here are just my few thoughts aboout it:

I run AMD for a couple of years and even Mac OS X works nice as hackintosh. My last AMD was a Athlon64/3700+ with 2GB of RAM. I used to run JaS 10.4.8 and later upgraded to 10.4.9, but the smoothness of my current Intel machine was never hit by this AMD. There were some minor things like crashing OS X on "About this mac" or a not-working iCal and adressbook.

My hint is really to get a Intel PC, even because it consumes much less power :P
