Time Machine was one of the reasons I was really psyched about Leopard, and touted Apple/OS X to all of my PC devout clients & friends. I am a convert, as of July, all PC's are packed away, and I use Boot Camp and/or Fusion as necessary, to access XP or Vista/Apps.

Well, I hooked up a 300Gb external HD (firewire) to my 24" iMac and scheduled Time Machine. The external HD is almost full (160Gb of the Mac HD is used, of 182Gb total, the balance of the HD (50Gb) is used for Boot Camp. Again, it's a 250 Gb HD...232.89 GB formatted, with a 50 Gb reserved for Boot Camp, remaining 182 Gb for OS X).

If Time Machine was even hooked to a 1 Tb External HD, it would maybe be full in a month, I'd assume, and the hourly + other automated backups, incremental, etc., seem to take a performance 'hit' on the overall snappiness of the iMac.....

My observations, or am I on drugs?
