I like OSx86 so far and I want to enjoy it to the fullest but I can't get my sata to work.

I've got a 4CoreDual-Sata2 board and tried the Device ID from this post (0x73721106).

used the standard kextunload and load stuff:

chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions

chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns

rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache

kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions/

kextcache -m /System/Library/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins/AppleVIAATA.kext

kextcache -L -N -e

I noticed that it said

Skipping duplicate extension "com.apple.driver.AppleVIAATA" with older/same version (1.0.2 -> 1.0.2).

So i edited the number to 1.0.3.

It said it loaded the first time and now it says:

Skipping duplicate ... older/same version (1.0.2 -> 1.0.
3
).

After a reboot it gave a panic, rebooted again and no panic anymore, but the Sata(2) still doesn't work.

Can somebody help me? Thanks in advance

Michael Spoli, from the post I link to in my topic just helped me figure out what the problem was.

In the BIOS you have to set your Sata to RAID, you don't have to configure a RAID array.

Now it works like a charm :D

Hello there,

I own a HP Pavilion dv2312us with a SATA driver, but unfortunately I don't have access to the option of setting Sata to Raid in my BIOS. Do you think that there is another way? Or could this setting be made by another software?

Thank you.

You can use your via-sata in non-raid-mode if you take 0x53721106 as device adress.

Does anything improve if you do that?

Or is it the same as with RAID enabled and the other device id?

I own a HP Pavilion dv2312us with a SATA driver, ....

I think you should try to make out the device id first and be sure that the driver supports your chipset.
