Is anyone else here an editor? I'm a huge fan of Final Cut Pro, don't get me wrong. But sometimes my work requires me to use Avid. I have a copy of Avid Express Pro and installing it in Leopard wielded some unusual results.

To start, as the installation was finishing, there was a "script error" or something. All the files were written so I didn't worry too much. But after reboot, Leopard had error dialogues upon log in that detailed invalid extensions in my system folder. At this point Avid would not launch. I've removed the corrupted Avid extensions that made my Mac want to shoot me. But Avid still won't launch.

Now, I wouldn't be worried or complaining because I'm the one that installed a beta operating system. Also, if all else fails I can just use the Avid machines at work (Windows.... uggggg). But since I already have 20GB partitioned on my Mac, I figured I could install a copy of Tiger, right? I thought that was a pretty good solution since Avid is guaranteed to work under Tiger.

But when I put in my iMac G5 Install Disk (Yes, I know, I need a Mac Pro to be a serious editor and I'm getting one this January) the install process gives me the beach ball of doom. After I agree to the license and click Continue, it stalls. This is right before the "Select Destination" stage.

What I think is happening is that my 2+ year old Tiger install disk is locking up because it does not recognize what OS is installed on my main partition. Any suggestions as to how I can install Tiger for Avid use? Please help. I'd really rather not be forced to use the *constantly* failing Windows-based Avid workstations at work.
