Hello guys, I've wandered all through the internet with no useful nor exact answer.

The problem with the laptop is the forbidden sign that appears whenever I try to boot from the jas dvd (which I used to install osx on this very desktop computer I'm writing you people from)

Can anyone please instruct me how to proceed?

on verbose mode it tells me he's looking for root, won't boot to single nor safe mode.

Well, it's the almighty unsolved "still waiting for root device" message.

As stated before, It's a laptop (which apparently some people have made it work), namely acer travelmate 2440

Both hdd and dvd-rom are IDE... first master, second slave, same bus. not rearrangeable. ACPI capable.

ATI Radeon xpress 200m, and can't turn off usb legacy (if it's even active, which I dunno) due to incompetent bios development.

Thus: SATA problem discarded.

Dunno what I should be looking for, but I really want to get away with this one. please help?

You really have to disable USB... Try to update your bios... That's what I'm going to try in a few minutes
