jez6345789
Hi Had exactly the same issue after upgrading to 10.4.10 As you have suggested adding back in the original ionetwork kext from jas 10.4.8 worked fine for me. After a bit of asking here found the kext on the original install DVD copied them to correct location with Pacifist. Fixed permissions rebooted and all was returned and working. jez6345789
Hi Thought I hit it pretty spot on but will try for a little more clarity. 1. Get hold of the software Pacifist , this allows you to look in pkg to see contents amongst other things. 2. On the Jas 10.4.8 disk locate ionetworkingfamily.kext 3 copy this over the top of the same file in system/libary/extensions on your hard drive say yes to overwrite then use fix permissions reboot and my network was sorted. nfsfan
i opened the 10.4.8 intel pacakege from jas, used pacifist and extracted ionetworking.kext to /system/library/extensions and repaired permissons with the following coomands(read somewhere on the forum)... cd /system/library/extensions sudo chown -R root:wheel IONetworkingFamily.kext ; sudo chmod -R 755 IONetworkingFamily.kext/ sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache sync reboot couple of commands were not executed as terminal said that i cant be allowed.... BUT still, after a restart the net was wroking perfectly fine..used for 10-15 minutes.shut the system down.opened again after 1-2 hrs and got the same error.....plz correct me where i went wrong... given the attachment of the networking option in system preferences grab.tiff Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/66432-ethernet-on-10410/#findComment-472462 Share on other sites

nfsfan
again repeated the same steps and again it worked only for 1 session.the errors that were given to me regarding insufficient priveleges were in the 2 commands : sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache reboot i am sure theres something wrong in what m doin for fixing permissions. @jez,do u have the same motherboard?
