krummo
Hey everybody! Finally took the leap yesterday and installed the 10.4.10 XxX release. First install went pretty smooth until the restart where it hung on "Verifying DMI pool data". I fixed that by simply installing osx under a different file system. After that it booted up just fine into OsX without any kernel errors or other horrors people encounter. But there are some issues.. My hardware setup is as follows: Q6600 oc'd to 3.2ghz Gigabyte P35 DQ6 4gb corsair 800mhz 6400 1*500gb seagete sata HDD 1*320gb segate sata HDD Gigabyte 8800GTS 640mb MSI dual net card (bluetooth+wireless (RT2500)) 1: System info reads the processor as unknown and at 4ghz instead of 3.2ghz 2: I installed the 8800 with the easy installer and all went smooth, it boots up at 1920*1200*60hz on my 24" display, but it only reads 256mb of memory on my card (I chose the right mem option in the installer) 3: Bluetooth works natively but I can't find a PCI driver for the RT2500 chipset to get the wireless to work? is there anything out there? 4: LAN doesn't work, I have a kext but I'm just too big of a noob to know how to... 5: it scores about 160 on the Xbench but disk performance is effin low, about 46. I've trid both the orange and the purple SATA ports at both AHCI and IDE mode. No difference. Actually if I set the purple SATAs to IDE the system won't boot, giving the "Still waiting for root device" error 7: Cant wake from sleep 8: Hangs on restart other than that it's super! small issues really.. SMF
Some notes - 2. Look at the 8800 thread in hardware. It appears that you should check your memory with OpenGL viewer to see if it reports correctly. (I have a 7600GT so I can't give direct experience here) 4. You can try and load the realtek driver from the realtek website. If I recall it has a built in installer. In addition you should search the driver forum for "kext helper". It's a nice program that does all the leg work to properly install kexts. 7. Some posts in the install forum say that not waking from sleep is an issue with the 8.10.3 kernal. I have the same motherboard as you do running XxX 10.4.10 and I can't wake from sleep either. 8. Same as 8 - several posts have said not rebooting properly is also related to the 8.10.3 kernal. I'm in the same boat here - reboot doesn't work. Enjoy your hackintosh! krummo
Hey thanks man! any ideas about the slow disk speed? could it just be a disk problem? SMF
I don't really have any ideas of good vs bad. With an E6750 overclocked to 3.2 GHz, and Crucial 8500 Ram running at 800MHz 4-4-4-12, a 500GB WD ABYS series drive and a XFX 7600GT I'm getting right at 200 in Xbench. You might search the forums for the combination of your drive type and xbench and see if there are any other scores out there for you to directly compare to.
