For a list of compatible motherboards check the wiki ->http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.8

In general, boards based on Intel chipsets work, 945,965,975, and P35.

945 and 975 chipset boards enjoy the best compatibility!

I'm having pretty good luck with this one if you can get it near you. It's pretty cheap too.

GIGABYTE GA-945GCMX-S2

Onboard 950 intel graphics work, but I upgraded to PCIe 7600GS today. Network and sound were working with two simple driver packages (skippyretard for sound, rtgmac v1.1.6 for nic). Sleep seems to work with the 7600GS video, but not so well with onboard GMA950 (never comes back on screen). I just installed today, so playing around. I added a firewire pci card, and it found it too, but I don't have a use for firewire just yet.

Oh, and I used the JaS 10.4.8 DVD, will try the 4.9 update soon. Koolkal/kalyway 10.4.10 dvd did not work, would get to blue screen, and sit, even overnight. I remember having to use only USB keyboard and mouse, ps2 would cause issues. Boot's in 14 seconds.

For network, see this thread,

I don't know about the best (that's kind of subjective based on what each person has working), but you'd be hard pressed to find a more compatible board for c2d and quad chips than the Intel Bad Axe 2. It will run any installer out there (other than those designed only for AMD) and the only problems are those that are inherent in the installer itself. I've successfully installed all the JaS versions from 10.4.5 up. All the uphuck installers work well as does Kalyway and XxX. PascalW and Koolkal updates work equally well. Choosing an installer for this board is really all about which one has the options you want most.
