Hey guys, for the past week i've been trying to put OSX on my Vista HP notebook. When i put in the disk (i'm not exactly sure what i downloaded, i reformatted my hard drive and i only have it on disk. I'm pretty sure it's 10.4.6) Everything boots up fine, but when it gets to the part to pick a volume to install on, nothing is there. I've tried everything.

I've tried using the command line trick to do the partitioning, no good

I've tried making the partition fat32, no good

I've turned off the sata support thing in the bios, no good

I've also tried some other things but i cant remember right now lol

Did anyone have this problem and ended up making it work? I hear the command line tricks works for most people but it didnt work for me. I've read so much and i'm honestly stuck.

I have an HP Pavillion dv6000

Broadcom Wifi card

Genuine Intel CPU T2060 @ 1.60GHz

Ram 1014 MB

32 Bit Vista

Can someone please help me out?

this is the command line trick, as first mentioned by macGarcha in this thread here:

"try this:

in windows, with the disk manager, erase the OSX partition; dont give any format. Make shure it appears as unpartitioned/free space. Apply changes, close the app.

go to start/run and type command [enter]. Command line window will open.

type:

Diskpart [enter]

List disk [enter] - it lists all disk in your system.

select disk N [enter] (N=your HD nr. , 0 (zero) if you have only one HD)

list partition [enter] - it shows the partitions on the selected disk.

create partition primary id=af [enter] - it will create a partition out of the unpartitioned space.

list partition [enter] - now the new partition should be listed among the others.

exit [enter]

now you can boot the DVD and try what you tryed before. Erase the partition with diskutility (choose the hfs+ extended file system before). It should work."

it seems that many people have tried this and it works for most, i'm going to try it again just for the hell of it. I actually have a question about it though, what does he mean by "Erase the partition with diskutility (choose the hfs+ extended file system before)." I don't get it.

It makes me feel a little better knowing other people are having the same problem...maybe that means that we can get a definitive solution soon hopefully.

I got it to install guys, and this is how i did it.

I got another image (uphuck 10.4.9 i don't think that is what mattered) and i made the same partition in windows as always and i booted up the cd, and still, there were no hard disks to choose from. SO i went up to the options and looked for disk utility or something like that. It recognized my partitions so i just clicked on the one i had reserved for osX and erased it and formated it in the mac format, and it installed! Now i have bigger problems on my hand, it wont boot because of a HFS+ partition error, but whatever, at least it recognized the disks!

can anyone help me out on my NEW little problem? lol
