paul_b
I am new to this forum so please apologies for my lack of knowledge on this subject. I am sure lots of you have come across this problem so please help. I have been to successfully install the mac os x 10.4.8 Jas successfully, on a number of occassions now! My problem is with cloning the OS. I have used Carbon Copy Cloner v3 to create a clone of my mac os. I am able to successfully make a clone of my mac partition onto another free partition(HFS+). I am sure there is no problem with my clone because I am able to boot this with no problems. When I try to restore the cloned partition back to the original partition, using erase existing data option, it seems to corrupt the darwin bootloader, I think. When I reboot the machine it basically says that there is 'no operating system'. When I use the jas DVD again I am able to boot the copied cloned partition! The problem is I dont want to constantly boot from a DVD and also I have multiple partitions to boot from. Can someone please help? I have searched this website several times and followed the various posts ie. 1/ using fisk -u the restore the MBR. 2/ using the startup disk utility. All with no luck!!!!! Can someone please help?
