macmaniac
I have a ASUS P5K-E WIFI mobo running pretty good. I have tried to install different flavours of Uphuck and Koolkal, with differing degrees of success. Uphuck 10.4.9 v1.2 installs updates to koolkal 10.4.10 8.10.1kernel Uphuck 10.4.9 v1.4 r2 installs updates to 10.4.10 koolkal 8.10.1kernel Uphuck 10.4.9 v1.3 doesn't Uphuck 10.4.9 v1.4 r3 doesn't Kalyway 10.4.10 8.10.3kernel doesn't I get the waiting for root device message. Trying the usual fixes didn't work. ......unless........ I configure my SATA to RAID then Kalyway10.4.10 booted up. SO.... has the green demon corrupted the ICH9 driver? is the driver missing? or is there some other conflict or issue? I'm not even sure what driver the P5K board needs as page 2-3 of the manual clearly indicates a ICH9R, and yet page 5-30 says "the motherboard comes the the intel ICH8R Southbridge RAID controller". Can someone explain this? If anyone could post a fix or solution that would be great. Zeblade
well I cant but I with a Gig p35c board have the same problem. But if I boot into a working OS X and install kaly 10.4.10 it works great. Same thing with his 10.5, gets stuck right away yet if I install it from a working os then boots up and runs fine Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63331-asus-p5k-e-p35-still-waiting-for-root-device-errors/#findComment-448348 Share on other sites

paranox2007
Hi, ASUS P5K - E (WIFI AP) I has been trying (fu...) for 4 days, all entire nights and days... No sleep till now.. Forums are extreemly USELESS in a lot of points as i can see now. Trought my brain flow till now most entire stuff about MAC here. All is really useless. I got same expirience which you got and same problems. My BIOS updated to 0803 (also the last one) AHCI, AHCI AHCI, IDE AHCI, Deactivated AHCI, RAID RAID, RAID RAID, AHCI, RAID DEACTIVATED etc.. I try all of combinations. Yes, it is true , Kaliway load ONLY with RAID. But it makes no sense, because system becomes so slow that you can direct format and install micro$oft. Uphuck versions 1.3 (which i needed due planed and owned updates for 10.4.10) can not be used at all. In an right configuration (and this is AHCI, AHCI) it shows after serval seconds before it even can start installator, Kernel Panic (No root device found) If configurate other ways, then you will just get "Still waiting for root device" I have P5K3 Deluxe (Its DDR3 mainbord), By same bios settings it start Uphuck, Kaliway , XXX, Tubegirl and whatever you just need. Updates easy (but have sleep troubles, it fall asleep and never wakeup) Also back to P5K - E Only one DVD can be started on it, and this is XXX 10.4.10 It starts without ANY problems in controller mode: AHCI, AHCI AHCI, IDE (can have sometimes troubles) Also SATA and IDE i set both to AHCI I am preety sure that someone may get different results. Now short review. XXX 10.4.10 - is not my favorite - it is slow and crash on Studio Logic 8 Uphuck 10.4.9 (updated till 10.4.10) - more fast then XXX, but dont run on P5K - E Wifi-AP. Kaliway 10.4.10 run ONLY in RAID mode on P5K - E Wifi-AP About Kaliway - This is actually really best version , since it is just slightly modified original MAC DVD with Uphuck drivers and software, Kernel is -.8.3 (also last kernel right now) The problem on Kaliway, so i see it, seems to be poor implementation of drivers. It makes me wonder that XXX release of 10.4.10 much more better in installation than Uphuck versions. ..and i wish mention that my personal favorite was always Uphuck. Besides on GA945GM-S2 Uphuck work so great, that you can forget other versions. It is also very depends on your hardware. But fact is fact... My new board P5K - E Wifi-AP is really S.X for PC based MAC, i do not care whatever someone will say, I need work on i and not put an instabile MACOS and be cool that i started that software on an PC. Lets be realistic, most people do this, cuz need work on it and not play and show to people that they are cool. Till now best MB i tested was GA945GM-S2 (not more produced nowdays) P5K3 have serious troubles with Sleep mode, and no any tweaks till now gives to me ability to use this MB for MAC. Besides i have some old P4 as well with VIA chipset and an ASUS P4C800 - E Deluxe .. and if you want install on it Kaliway or Uphuck 1.4 r3, then better you jump from a bridge, you will spend same time i did and will realize that only XXX or older uphuck can be started. I do not mention Jas since it is outdated.
