So I've followed a few guides trying to dual boot Vista and OSx86, and I can't get disk utility to work. I've tried the JaS 10.4.8 and Uphuck 10.4.9 versions and neither can see the partition I've created for OSX. The weirdest part is that it can see my C: partition from Vista, but that's it! It also says that the Vista partition is 128gb and has 128gb free when in reality it is 388gb and has 160gb free. I've tried making an "af" partition using disk part and labelling it as active. I've tried making NTFS and FAT32 partitions and making all of the different partitions active and still the only partition it recognizes is my Vista partition. Even in VMWare, I can fully install if I select FreeBSD as guest OS but it won't boot, and when I try to make the guest OS Windows NT, it Can't see the partition!

My Hardware Is:

Motherboard: EVGA nForce 680i SLI

Processor: intel core 2 duo E6600 2.4ghz

Hard Drive: seagate 500gb IDE

Video Card: nvidia 8800gts 320mb

RAM: 4gb OCZ 667mhz

Any help would be fantastic! Thanks a lot!

Try just deleting the mac partition and leaving that part of the drive empty, then boot into mac os x and using disk utility to create a new partition. Also, that 4gb of memory could cause problems, unless you are installing leopard. As far as I know, nvidia 8x00 cards are unsupported, try and look throught the hardware forum for more info on that.

Did you set your OSX partition as active? Your nForce 680i SLI motherboard is going to present you some unique challenges in itself. You might have to do some searching to see how others with that board have gotten their systems to work. Also, there is very little support for the 8xxx series video cards.

Well I've given up. I've decided to come back and maybe get into OSx86 when it's a bit easier to get working. I did all the things you suggested and it just doesn't work. Oh well, Vista and Ubuntu should keep me occupied for a while at least. Thanks for all the help.
